Urban Observatory Objectives

      The urban observatory aims at providing a set of quantitative and qualitative indicators that present a standard for the changing variables in developmental, economic, social and structural performance in order to improve the level of urban development and solve the problems that cities and its dwellers face.

       The objectives of urban observatories and the indicator's program are as follow:

       - Monitoring current urban situations and specify the issues related to local administration, infrastructure and municipality funding in order to understand it, diagnose it and control it.
       - Producing indicators and supplying decision makers as well as executive sections with a comparable database to enable them to make a conscious decision regarding urban development.
       - Providing the local urban structures with analytical information that help in matters of transparency, monitoring, performance evaluation, detecting gaps and setting up of priorities.
       - Contributing in setting policies, designing long lasting developmental plans and specifying the priorities of these plans through indicators. Next, they ask for the appropriate funding for the municipalities' urgent needs.
