In 1988 the UN approved the international strategy of shelter that called for the housing governmental policies to adopt an enabling role which facilitate, motivate and support the activities of the private sector in investing in housing.
The stage of developing international housing strategies was accompanied with developing a set of housing indicators achieved through collaborated efforts from the international bank and the United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN-Habitat) in 1990. This program also included a detailed comparison of the housing sectors in fifty three major cities distributed in fifty two countries in which they collected 50 indicators according to comparative foundations. |
