The city of Ahmadabad established an Urban Observatory with the participation of a local non-governmental organization, which collects information on the slums in the city and the produces of maps using GIS. Using the results of indicators, the Ahmadabad municipality has been able to develop a program for upgrading slums which is called “Urban Renewal".
